Milton United are introducing their Development Team to compete within the Hellenic League Division 2 for season 2019/20. The team will be based around the successful U19s of last season and a blend of new players who aspire to progress to higher level football and experienced players who wish to continue playing competitive football within the Hellenic league structure. The team will have close ties to the Milton United First Team and will train together, first session starts on Thursday 20 Jun at 7pm. The Team will be Managed by Gareth Woodward and Tim Davies, both of whom have worked successfully together with the U19s.
Gareth Woodward (Woody) stated:
After managing Milton United’s current crop of U18/19’s for the last two seasons, which culminated in winning the 2018/19 Oxfordshire Invitation Youth League Division A, very exciting times now lay ahead for this fantastic group of young adults. Forming a partnership with Tim and building on the success of last season, the natural progression is to now compete at Hellenic Division 2 level. With Tim’s experience of the Hellenic Leagues and the addition of Shane Stenson and John Aubrey as player coaches, we have a dedicated management team who share the same goals. Our aim is to build a team that will be competitive within both the league and all cup competitions, whilst supporting the development of our young players and helping them to achieve their full potential. I am personally looking forward to managing ‘open age’ football for the first time and building a partnership between both the Development and Senior squads, that will bring success to both teams and Milton United Football Club.
Tim Davies added:
I’m really pleased to be back managing a team at Milton United. Working joint with Gareth is a huge pull and something I believe will be great for us both.
Having helped Woody (Gareth) with the U19 for the backend of the season, which ended with winning the league it seemed only natural to step up with him and take on the next step developing the lads.
The new first team management team is a big bonus to Milton and I know Sam Elkins really well and I’m sure the link between the 2 side will be a close one.
Chairman Andy Burchette commented:
What is really pleasing for this team is that a good number of the prospective players have been at Milton since U10s and they have truly earned their progression into open aged football with the club. This is what it is about as far as I am concerned, they have a good Management Team who are determined to succeed in making the jump work. Woody and Tim together with the First Team Management Marcus and Sam are already planning for exciting and demanding pre-season which starts next Thursday!
